We are searching for a talented Interpreter - Sign Language

 

Hours: Per Diem

Shift: Day shift with evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Location: St. Luke’s Hospital – New Bedford, MA

Travel:  May require driving on average 3 or more times per week

**Available to regular status employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of 20 hours.

Responsibilities

Position reports to the Manager, Interpreter Services or designee. Provide coverage on-site/on-call for Interpreter Services as requested. Provide accurate consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation from spoken English to American Sign Language and vice versa. Develop a rhythm of interpretation to enhance the flow of communication between parties. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of encounters.

Qualifications

  • Associate�s Degree or equivalent knowledge and experience in a related field is required.
  • Training in medical terminology preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills appropriate for handling sensitive patient and/or employee issues.
  • Fluency in English and American Sign Language.
  • One (1) year related experience required.
  • Certificate of completion of a Medical Interpreter Training.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired. 

Pay Range

USD $18.36 - USD $30.89 /Hr.
