Hours: Per Diem varies; 7a - 7p; 7p - 7a; 11a - 11p; 7a - 7a

Shift: Days, nights, weekends, rotational, holidays

Responsibilities

  • Under the general supervision and direction of the Chief of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery or designee, conduct a wide variety of patient care and related duties in support of SHG Surgeons.
  • Position will function as first call for all emergency department consults with physician back-up primarily for Surgical Specialties.
  • Conduct rounds as needed for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery patients.
  • Assist in OR for trauma cases as necessary. Overnight APP coverage for SLH in addition to regular shift (The extra shift is on average one shift per month and may include nights or weekends and holidays as determined by the Trauma Program.
  • Shift assignment is not guaranteed.)
  • Job can be a secondary or a PD assignment.

Qualifications

  • Physician Assistant:  Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required. Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program is required. Certification by the National Commission of Physician Assistants within one year of hire is required
  • Family Nurse Practitioner: Master of Science Degree in Nursing is required. Family Nurse Practitioner required to see patients of all ages. Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner is required. Current Massachusetts R.N. registration is required.
  • Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant License is required. 
  • One year experience required.
  • Surgical First Assistant preferred for Nurse Practitioner
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.
